Novels and Wavels About Whats to Come

January 30th, 2012 § Leave a Comment

There is an internal pulling that is pushing me back to New York. The old buildings, the sparkles of life, pizza, love and opportunity. It is the best place I have ever been or lived on earth. It is society. I ventured with my ex to Seattle in hopes of relief from our day to day. Relief from the craziness and postponement of our wanted progression with in the relationship. Relief from the rent and pay check to pay check living. A break from concrete and shoving on the streets. All of it has been relieving and I have an understanding of that west coast laid back vibe, but now its boring here in Seattle. Not a boring that invokes nights at home with nothing to do and it hardly translates to a motivation killer. I spend my nights writing music or writing posts such as these. I’ll go out to see my brother’s band play and have recently been meeting strangers to fill certain voids. I spend my day at work in the “city”. While it’s slow I’ve been exploring cafes and places to get something worth buying to pass over my taste buds. Somedays I give up and go to a popular sandwich sub spot for their $4 torpedo sandwich which happens to be that special size that doesn’t inflate my stomach and lets me devour some salt and vinegar chips. Most of the time I always have left overs everywhere I eat. I think its cause once I’m not hungry, my tastebuds turn off and what ever it is on my plate tastes like shit. Its a boring that resonates in my environment. I am not inspired by my surroundings. Things are too normal here. I’m not a fan.

The Gun to My Head

January 27th, 2012 § Leave a Comment

Well it’s a good thing that my Aliendanceface put a gun to my head and told me I better send out my music to record labels. It took me for ever to decide that the songs are complete enough to send to records labels. I have 3 songs that I think are solid and represent my skill, creativity, feeling and focus I’ve put into them as well as just being a good electronic tune in my opinion. I’ve sent my demo’s to 5 labels. Each one of them has artists and aspects that I admire and would be honored if they were to release my album. One of them actually asked me to make an album for their label. Which was way cool, yet it was about 2 years ago if not longer. So I’m not sure if they’ll still be happy to release it or not. I can’t believe I haven’t released a truly new album for that long. What the hell have I been doing? Making this bad ass album! That’s what I’ve been doing. Here are the labels I sent demos to in no particular order:

Alpha Pup | Memory Format | Error-Broadcast | Ritmo Sportivo | Moodgadget

These labels are my top tier labels, well top tier ones where they might actually listen to the music I’ve sent them. I’m going to begin making a 2nd tier list, that way if I don’t hear back from any of them, I will be prepared to send out more. I’m getting this damn album released one way or another. Ok ok, I’ll share a secret track, the only one that exists online on a deep dark server somewhere with no more than 3 hyperlinks to share it with the rest of the world, titled “Father Along“, a heavily remixed version of Defense’s track.

He About to Lose Me

You know how people have their musical tastes? Each person’s collection is their sonic persona. Here’s somethings people might say about it:

“When you hang out with that one guy, he always plays heavy metal and that other guy is such a douche, he’s always dancing to dubstep and wobbling about. Belt buckles and country music, lets buy a truck. Those stupid top forty bitches, don’t even get me started on the scavenging dudes into it. Techno? umph sa umph sa, get a life. Or better yet, put that glowstick… I just don’t get hip hop. What are they saying and why does any one give a shit? My jeans crammed my balls so far up into my stomach that indie rock sounds good some how. Relates to my voice I guess. Yea, I get it, classic rock is epic…in a way that relates more to your parents generation than your dull life. Grunge, needles. You’re cool if you like jazz, but you also have crapy taste. Ambient music is like listening to me while I’m sleeping. Only shallow people with no sense of self are gullible enough to appreciate pop music. No, its all about the real thing, rock and roll is the beginning. Hey bro, lets get really stoned, don some fake dreads and listen to some reggae. Fuck you, I have a mowhawk and I’m hardcore, punk.”

Emails with Attachments (updated)

January 25th, 2012 § Leave a Comment

In the ediscovery world, the term “family” defines a group of electronic documents produced when we process an email that has documents attached to it. The email is the parent and any attachment is considered a child. If one of the children have an attachment, it is called a grandchild. Its a family and they are related to one another, get it? Maybe it’s coincidence or maybe not, either way I’ve been working with a client this week on an issue with some children he didn’t expect to have. The parent email didn’t indicate in any of it’s data that it had children, but it had 7 of them. That’s a big family!

Well I’ve been thinking about children a lot more lately and consequently opening discussions with loved ones why people come to want kids, parental responsibilities, love, selfishness and so on and so on. « Read the rest of this entry »

The Weekend Review

January 24th, 2012 § 2 Comments

Well since getting a new computer, I forgot how to log in to my wordpress account I installed on tomphonic.com. I guess that just shows how much music I’ve been sharing lately. The thing is, I’ve finally finished an album after about 1 or 2 years of working on it. Its like coming out of a cave after living in the belly of the caverns for a year.  So for this video, I used all my videos from my iPhone. It surprisingly has a lot better quality than my point and shoot as far as video goes. I’ll also add, that in low light settings, the iPhone really sucks. One day I’ll get a nice video camera for this stuff. I ended up going straight to the studio after work on Friday and worked on a track of Tom Phonic stuff all night long. I slept up stairs and wrapped my brothers noise canceling blankets around me. The old drum pillow, a little coffee stained, was my pillow. Shit now I sound like Keith Richards in his long drawn out everlasting infinite autobiography. So what ever, I made the song this weekend and the music video too.

Portland with the Dudes Part One

January 23rd, 2012 § Leave a Comment

So the road trip to Portland was interesting. I actually think I’d like living there more than Seattle, mostly because their downtown reminds me of the East Village / Lower East Side in Manhattan. Although, after telling someone those feelings back here in Seattle, they told me it’s like a hipster Vegas. As in, there really isn’t much useful commerce or industry there. All there is are boutique shops, brunch spots, bars and night clubs. Which on first thought sounds great, on the second, I sure wouldn’t want to work in any of those places for my lively hood, um… unless of course I owned the shop.
