Who’s that Guy?

Oh! Its that 29 year old professional that takes over my body from 9-5 each day. Sometimes wears chucks to work and when he needs to, he can spiff up pretty well. While I never really liked the guy as a friend, I’ve really gotta give him some credit. He’s really done a good job at paying for my musical endeavors over the years. Shit, he even pays for my food, rent, utilities and is pretty generous when it comes to sharing beers. I’m glad he’s sticking around for as log as I need him. Sometimes he’ll stick his nose in my music passion. I can’t complain though, because most of his ideas are pretty good. I mean, not for writing music or anything like that, but on the organization and promotion side he’s pretty good. Since I’ve been awesome at saving the money he makes for the last couple of months, he’s really been coming up with some interesting ideas. One of them started off with the old saying, “You gotta spend money to make money”. He feels pretty certain that once we get back to NYC, with the new / old job, that we’ll be just as financially stable as I have been since moving to Seattle and have extra money to continue to save for my other business ideas as well as have a monthly allowance for music. I’d like to say it should be enough for a studio and some chunks left over to put together shows and actually pay artists to play, which was his idea. Referring back to the saying, I’m hoping that putting money into the scene in NYC will help the scene grow and we’ll all flourish. As in, I want to spend money on the scene so we can all make money. It would be great to get to a point where music pays for it’s self and even better if it becomes more than that.
Also, yesterday and today, he totally kicked ass. Got a big messy production out the door sooner than the client originally requested, but turns out he needed sooner. So today he made a lit support manager of a huge law firm happy, since he ran the project his self, he made his senior project manager a happy person, and also bought lunch for the processing tech who worked on it all day today. Big day for mister professional Tom.
Now I’m off to the studio to be myself and write some bad ass hip hop beats with Naksty Grubbins.
I’m a Spoiled Smiley Face.

“Sad but true: A lot of people seem to be perpetually in a state of wanting what they don’t have and not wanting what they actually do have. I’m begging you not to be like that in the coming weeks, Aries. Please? I’ll tell you why: More than I’ve seen in a long time, you will have everything going for you if you want precisely what you do have — and are not full of longing for what’s unavailable. Do you think you can you manage that brilliant trick? If so, you will be amazed by the sublimity of the peace that will settle over you.”

Duh! Sure I can manage it. Been there done that. Geez, give me some freaking time. I know I got a ton of great stuff in my life but I gotta get dirty before I can get clean. I knew I’d do this and get all obsessed over my past relationship and how it was the best thing ever in my life. One of them, the other being music. Even tho she’s an old gal, we still have quite the long lasting happy relationship. I’ll have to write about it in another post sometime. It’s a weird trip, this transition in my life is. I’m feeling some really powerful emotions and teaching myself some things about myself I might not have ever known. Sure it gets lonely for about an hour or so each day. But i also have tons of time to focus on me and things i want to do.

I was searching for this specific picture I took about 4 years ago for my album cover that will be released on MemoryFormat label in the next few months after everything is mastered and the press releases are sent out. Anyway, I haven’t found it yet, but I found myself laughing my ass off at some of the crap I have on my old hard drive. Here some of it is:
I Rock, That is true sir.

We went to see a hip hop band my brother knows at Nector last night. It was fun seeing the gang and it was really good to chat with Russell. I’ve never really had a chance to one on one with him. We talked about our new ideas and paths we are going down as musicians. He brought up some very smart points about the hip hop scene in Seattle, which with my limited experience of it, agreed on many levels. Mainy I related to the feeling of throwing shows and them being packed, but not having one fan in the house. It’s important to me to have fans. Well, the last guy we saw before we left was called “Open Mike Eagle” and his show was fantastic. I think he’s from Cali. After his first two songs, every scenester turned into his fan. I took this video of his final song and will be buying his album. I don’t normally pick up on the content of what intelligent MCs say until their beats pass my test and I listen to the song for a few weeks. So it’s special to me that I could get exactly what this guy was saying on stage and I liked it! Check it and the cool trippy mirror effect I thought was cool too ![]()
